Like Homeopathy, BFT is an energetic medicine.
Dr Edward Bach studied medicine at the University College Hospital, London, and was a House Surgeon there. He worked in general practice, having a set of consulting rooms in Harley Street, and as a bacteriologist and later a pathologist he worked on vaccines and a set of homoeopathic nosodes still known as the seven Bach nosodes. It was through his studies with Hahnemann (the father of homeopathy) that Bach was introduced to the idea of energetic medicine, and it is from here that he developed the homeopathic nosodes for the treatment of infectious diseases during epidemics in England. From this introduction Bach worked out a theory of plant essences which he refined with the development of his 38 plant remedies, known as Bach Flower Therapy.
Despite the success of his work with orthodox medicine he felt dissatisfied with the way doctors were expected to concentrate on diseases and ignore the people who were suffering them. He was inspired by his work with homoeopathy but wanted to find remedies that would be less reliant on the products of disease. In 1930 he gave up his in London to devote the rest of his life to the new system of medicine that he was sure could be found in nature.
By 1934 Dr Bach moved to Mount Vernon in Oxfordshire, where he completed his repertoire of 38 flower essences, that have been in wide use, now world wide, ever since.
Bach believed that physical illness was the result of mental and emotional stress and he saw his work in trying to treat the tendencies of the mind and emotions to prevent illness.
Bach Flower Therapy is used extensively at bodyone to help clients cope with stresses in the workplace, home and in personal relationships. It also has great application for nonspecific anxiety and stress that is part of the individual’s constant state of being. In most cases relief is felt within a few days with deeper resolution of the individual’s tendencies being experienced over a longer period of treatment.
The remedies are inexpensive and non invasive. You will not feel drugged (they are not drugs) or have any of the fogging or disconnection that is common to drug suppression of mental and emotional stress. The treatment requires a consultation of 1 -1.5 hours, follow-up is normally 2 weeks for a period, then going to monthly, etc. with greater space between sessions, as the person’s issues become simpler and more defined. The treatment progressively works back to the core issues, at this point the person may be on a select set of remedies for a lengthy period. The treatment is a liquid form and is taken at 4 drops 4x day and does not interfere with other vitamin or supplement programs.
