Cosmetic Acupunture is a specialization of Dr. Fang Ying (Nancy) Huang, for which she trained in China. Unlike North American cosmetic acupuncture, Dr. Huang's technique employs horizontal as well as the more typical vertical needling. Horizontal needling traverses the connective tissue anchor between the surface of the skin and the deeper levels, reducing unnecessary thickening and congestion and increasing vitality (Qi).
In the tradition of cosmetic acupuncture, other points on the body that benefit the general constitution and balance of the organ systems are included in each treatment. For this reason, cosmetic acupuncture treatments can be covered by extended healthcare benefits.
Although changes in appearance can often be seen from a single treatment, a series of treatments is recommended for more permanent results. Upkeep is also necessary. Depending on the consitution and lifestyle of the individual, three sessions every three months will usually be adequate for maintaining results.
As is evident from the photos, cosmetic acupuncture tones the tissue, diminishes lines, brightens the complexion, essentially "lifts" the face, and erases the veil of emotional stress. In contrast to the results of cosmetic surgery, which distort the structure of the face, acupuncture respects the inherent balance and configuration of the face, just relieving it of congestion and emotional tensions which harden the face: the result is a softening and youthening effect.
These unretouched photos reflect a series of 15 sessions, with BEFORE on the left and AFTER on the right.
