CAN I HAVE MASSAGE WHEN I AM SICK?

The answer to this question is indirect. For some symptoms massage is very helpful, for instance if you are sick with menstrual cramps or morning sickness or hang-over, massage is very helpful. In general massage is not suggested in the case of fever, especially if it is high. In the case of achy muscles, that you think is a flu coming on, massage is sometimes very helpful and also very good for and of flu or other sickness that has had one resting for long periods of time. It is always best to phone and discuss your particulars.

Insurance

ARE YOUR SERVICES COVERED BY OHIP?

No, alternative healing modalities are not covered by OHIP.
However, many of the treatment modes we offer are covered by extended healthcare plans. This fortunate event is the result of employers and insurance companies recognizing that the modern workplace is stressful and it is cheaper to keep people healthy than to cover the costs of them getting ill.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM COVERED FOR TREATMENTS BY MY EXTENDED BENEFITS?

You must ask your employer and if they are not sure of the current status of your benefit plan, or if the benefit plan at your place of work has different plans for various levels of its staff, then you can contact the insurance office and ask them directly. Some plans have a straight sum that can be applied to specific services. Allotments for massage may be distinct from shiatsu or acupuncture. Some plans recognize reflexology and even Chinese head massage. On the other hand, you may have all your modalities grouped together under one amount or you may have a plan that only pays a percentage of each treatment.

Be sure that you get full details before you plan your treatments.

IF I AM COVERED WILL YOU BILL THE INSURANCE COMPANY DIRECTLY?

No, we do not bill the insurance company directly where it is a matter of extended healthcare benefits. You must pay for the treatment up front, you are given a receipt with all the relevant information and then you must submit the receipt, and any paperwork that is required, with it. The turn-around on these claims is usually quite fast.

DO YOU HANDLE ACCIDENT INSURANCE CLAIMS OR WORKMANS COMPENSATION?

Yes, we do handle accident and WSB claims.

DO YOU BILL THE INSURANCE COMPANY DIRECTLY IN THE CASE OF ACCIDENT AND/OR WORKMANS COMPENSATION?

It is often the case that we bill the insurer directly, but each case must be discussed in its particularity. In the case of accident insurance, the cost per session allotment is less than a one hour treatment, so this must be discussed before the treatment plan is made out.

CAN OTHER MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY USE MY BENEFITS?

Receipts can only be made out in the name of the person receiving the treatment.

CAN MY RECEIPTS BE MADE FOR A PAST OR FUTURE DATE?

Receipts are made out on and for the date the service is purchased.

DO YOU OFFER ANY DISCOUNT RATES?

The clinic offers a 10% discount to students and seniors. You must present a valid student card or proof of age.

WHAT IS THE PROTOCAL FOR TIPPING?

At bodyone we have a no tipping policy; our staff are professionals and are respectfully remunerated for their service. Tips will gladly be accepted and put into the tipping fund, the recipients of which change from time to time. In 2007 the fund went to help fund the education of the 5 youngest children of a family of 10, whose parents have come into severe financial and health difficulties in the Philippines. This expense was being shouldered by the eldest child, here in Canada. The contribution of the tip fund went take some of the burden off. In 2008 the tipping fund went to fund Mandaza's work in Africa, bringing clean water and medicine to Zimbabwe. Currently our fund is focused closer to home. The fund is currently being channeled to The Canadian Aboriginal Aid Network. In Canada 50% of the aids epidemic is represented by the Aboriginal peoples and 30% of the total aboriginal population is infected. This organization works hard to educate for prevention and to help those with a diagnosis reconstruct their lives and understand their condition. If you are thinking you would like to contribute to this fund, in the way of a tip or donation, please bring cash, as we cannot put it through our accounts.

SHOULD I BRING ANYTHING WITH ME?

If you are having shiatsu or Thai massage you should wear or bring loose comfortable clothing.

If you are having a manicure or pedicure you should bring your tools with you, if you have them, or you will be required to buy a small kit for $4.50.

HOW EARLY SHOULD I ARRIVE AND WHAT IF I AM LATE?

If you are coming to the clinic for the first time or if you are seeing a given therapist for the first time, you should arrive 10 -15 minutes early, as you will have to fill out a case history. Try to be on time, if you are a few minutes late we will do what we can to see that you still get a full appointment, but this cannot be guaranteed, please consider others and be on time.

CAN I DATE MY THERAPIST?

No.

Payment, Parking, and Location

DO YOU HAVE ON-SITE PARKING?

There is no on-site parking at the clinic, however there is plenty of street parking but no guarantees. We are on a residential street but there is metered parking on Queen Street.

Availability changes with the time of day and the day of the week. Leave yourself a little time to find a spot. Watch the signage. Toronto is becoming famous for its ticketing.

WHAT IS THE MAIN INTERSECTION?

The main intersection is Queen and Bathurst Streets. We are one block south and one block west.

WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept cash, cheque (if you are local), visa, master card, pc, and debit.

GROUPS AND WEDDING PARTIES?

Our clinic is small and specialized, we can only accommodate small groups of 3 or 4 individuals, if a variety of services are requested. We cannot accommodate several individuals wanting only esthetics, and we do not do polish. For this we recommend Elixer Spa, down the street on King. We can accommodate two facials simultaneously, they, I believe, can do three.
