Registered massage therapy distinguishes itself from other forms of massage practice, in that it is recognised under provincial health legislation, and as a result is covered by most extended healthcare plans.
Registered massage therapy may also encompass hydrotherapy, head massage, relaxation massage and shiatsu massage therapy, if the practioner is a registered massage therapist.
Registered massage therapy and shiatsu massage therapy are relatively well known for their effective treatment of: headaches, sprains, strains, whiplash, digestive disorders, torticollis, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, restoration after fractures, joint pain and arthritis,
muscle strain, repetitive strain, pain and discomfort in pregnancy and post pregnancy, emotional stress, mental stress, sciatica and other forms of neuralgia and neuritis, TMJ, eye strain, heart stress, etc., as well as a general maintenance of the body and palliation of most kinds of physical
discomfort.
What is less known is that massage therapy is very effective in the treatment of scars, and the prevention of keyloids, if employed very shortly after injury or operations.
Massage therapy is profoundly effective in relieving breast pain and is an excellent breast maintenance plan. Massage therapy can also be done in and around the mouth in the resolution of TMJ as well as general oral tension and to increase the circulation to the teeth.
Hydrotherapy is also useful in most of the above conditions as well as having
particular effects on the circulation of the distal appendages, i.e. feet and hands.
For all chronic conditions we encourage and support self-care and home maintenance.
Registered massage therapy practiced as a holistic therapy recognizes the body is an exact reflection of the nature of the individual, their stresses in the world and the places of harmony that live in them.
Most lives are stressed, even those that seem blessed.
Registered massage therapy offers a kind of support and encouragement that is the most basic and the most evolved, it brings us back into ourselves, it is restorative and gives us the indefinable strength to face life more squarely.
Registered massage therapy can be employed to relieve aches and pains and to recover from injury. It can be used to relax (no small offering) and to enhance physical function.
But massage tharapy is more than that, it is a direct means of cleaning the body, which collects plaque, and creates a muddied conduction of the nervous system and stiffness in the muscles and joints.
Regular massage therapy clears and softens the tissues and eases all body functions.
Many natural therapies have a powerful effect on enhancing the body's function and self-regulation but massage therapy is a direct and mechanical means to sweep out the tissues, effecting the function both in the immediate and the long term.
